Jose M. Coto, P.E.

Eng. Director, FPL (Ret.)

Jose Coto is the retired Director of Engineering for the Power Delivery business unit of Florida Power & Light Company (FPL). In this role, he was responsible for the engineering of distribution, transmission, and substation facilities. He was also responsible for siting and permitting activities as well as records. Mr. Coto was named to this position in November 2013.

Prior to this, Mr. Coto served as General Manager of Engineering for the Transmission& Substation business unit. Earlier in his career, Mr. Coto held various management positions related to project management and engineering. He joinedFPL in 1978.

After retirement from FPL, Mr. Coto started his own consulting firm, Coto ConsultingServices, specializing in providing professional services to the electric utility and related businesses.

Mr.Coto holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida. He is certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt.
